Profile

Paul Richards - Singer-Songwriter

It is safe to say I was a late-comer to the music scene after picking up the guitar during my early twenties, and it wasn't long before I discovered a knack for writing songs, and thereafter spending many an hour fervently scribbling down lyrics and chords. Such energy and application should really have been applied to my University studies, but this was one 'subject' I actually did enjoy!

In 2000, I recorded my first set of tracks in a dingy studio in Essex. The quality was less than desirable, but it gave me the opportunity to cement some of my works into a format that I could return to at a later time and say, "hey, I did that". This collection of recordings was titled Vinyl Lounge and included tracks such as 'CafeVibe', 'Vinyl Lounge' itself and 'Thinking of You'. With the latter having since been re-recorded and can be heard on this website.

Hereafter, I spent my spare time fumbling through various websites and other means of communication in an effort to see what was required to take this hobby further. A chance meeting with an old acquaintance, Malissa Whitehouse, provided such an opportunity. Malissa, along with Tony Matthew (ex-Soul to Soul) had set up a business called Pop Sessions, which gave me the platform to record some of my tracks to a more professional standard.

In 2005, after recording my first high-quality single 'Harmony' with Pop Sessions, I was fortunate enough to play it at the annual Hop Farm fireworks display in Kent for KMFM. A thoroughly enjoyable experience which left the senses screaming for more.

Since that time I have recorded an additional 8 high-quality tracks, with Tony providing the music production and the talented musician, Jack Ross, assisting with the guitar arrangements. In fact Jack would play any instrument he could get his hands on! These tracks are titled, 'Thinking of You', 'Sweet Polly', 'Black Moon', 'Is it me you're looking for?', 'Hit the Road', 'Madison', 'Wanted Man' & 'Velvet Sky'. So almost an album... almost...

There's a lot more in the locker but having since moved from the UK to Singapore it has been difficult finding the opportunity to collaborate with the old crew. Still, there's more to come, that's for sure.
